NPT Choirs 'Sing out Loud!'
15 November 2012
Eight community choirs formed as part of a Neath Port Talbot council competition have joined forces to release a charity single for BBC Children in Need.
'The United Choirs of Do You Think You Can Sing?.......' have recorded the track 'Sing Out Loud' to raise money for the annual BBC charity event.
The groups competed against each other as part of the Arts Council of Wales funded initiative 'Do You Think You Can Sing?.......', but are now singing from the same hymn sheet for a good cause.
The project, which encouraged communities, schools and workplaces to form vocal musical groups and take part in fun tuition, has now lead to the recording studio.
Around 120 keen vocalists sampled the experience of working in a professional recording environment for the first time to record an uplifting and exciting track written by Steffan Thomas and Chris Wright from Octagon productions. Funded by the Arts Council of Wales, the song was produced by NPT Community Arts for Neath Port Talbot Council with the support of Octagon Productions and Buffoon Film & Media.
The choral supergroup is made up of singers from Baglan Primary School, Melin Junior School, Cwmnedd Primary School, Dwr y Felin Comprehensive, Quay Notes, Cor Draig, Cor Serenta, and Goodness Gracious Glee.
The track will be available to download from Friday 16th November from iTunes, Spotify and other online retailers such as Tesco and Amazon.
