Aberafan Seafront Strategy
The Aberafan Seafront Strategy was published in 2003 and, since
that time, a great deal of work has taken place to enhance the
facilities for local people and visitors alike.
The success of the Strategy has been very much in evidence this
summer, with increasing numbers of families visiting Aberafan to
play in the Aquasplash pool, on the Sandcastle play area, or just
to relax on the beach.
Water quality has been improving steadily and Aberafan has been
recommended for bathing for the second year running by the Marine
Conservation Society in its Good Beach Guide.
The Council is keen to build on this success and has completed a
Review of the 2003 Strategy, which looks back at what has been
achieved to date and forward, at how best to further develop the
area's potential as a vibrant and attractive place to live, visit,
work and invest.
The Strategy Review is now open for comments from individuals
and organizations with an interest in the Seafront. The closing
date for comments is Friday 7th October the Council would like to
hear any views on the proposals (contact details are provided on
page 16 of the Review).
