Looking after money
There may be a time when the person you care for can no longer manage
their own money. This could be because they are not able to go out of
the house, or because they are no longer mentally capable of looking
after money. There are various ways in which you as a carer can help out
by controlling their money. What you do will depend on the condition of
the person you care for and on their financial circumstances.
Our Receivership and Appointee ship Unit can advise you about the
options and requirements, and assist you in managing money. As a last
resort, they can take on the responsibility of managing money, but this
only happens when there is no carer, relative, or friend available or
willing to do it. Contact: (01639) 763734.
For more information, the Carers Wales leaflet –
‘Dealing with someone else's money’ is available from the organisation or from the Carers Service who can be telephoned on (01639) 642277.
