Statistics
Statistics are a vital aid to identifying social exclusion. The
top 100 most deprived wards as identified by the Welsh Index of Multiple Deprivation (WIMD) in
2000 were selected for inclusion in the Communities First programme
(in addition to 32 identified ‘Pockets of Deprivation’ within
wards, and 10 ‘imaginative proposals’).
The top 10% areas in the 2005 WIMD which had not formed part of
the initial selection were invited to apply for inclusion into the
programme in August 2006.
See: Further details on these new proposed areas within Neath Port Talbot.
Census
The most recent Census was carried out in 2001. For further
