Melin Action Area Project
The exciting Melin Community Action Project was launched on 1st
April 2006. Appointed as Co-ordinator James Muir is leading the
Welsh Assembly Government initiative to address the issues of fear
of crime and make the Melin a safer place to live in and visit.

The one year project is designed to engage the community and
many other organisations and agencies to work together to address
anti-social behaviour issues such as fly tipping, abandoned
vehicles, criminal damage, graffiti and improve security for
vulnerable residents.
At the rubbish amnesty on May16th local community police
officers, members of the Melicryddan Community Conference, Safer
Neath Port Talbot, Keep Wales Tidy and local residents cleared six
tonnes of rubbish from Meadow Road.
A further three rubbish amnesties have been arranged for the
Neath East area by Keep Wales Tidy, the Communities First
Organisation NEAT and the Melin Action Area Project
Co-ordinator.
In order for the project to be deemed a success the Co-ordinator
has to build relationships with other agencies and organisations
and engage the residents in the action of shaping their community
for the better.
