Victim Support
Victim Support is an independent charity, which helps people
cope with crime. The service is available to all victims of crime,
their families and friends whether or not the crime has been
reported to the police. The service is based at 17 Gnoll Park Road
in Neath and covers the whole of the County Borough. Trained
volunteers provide a comprehensive visiting service, which is free
and confidential, and offer:
- Someone to talk to in confidence
- Information on crime prevention matters
- Information on police and court procedures
- Liaison with sources of help
Victim Support also has a Witness Service in both Neath and Port
Talbot Magistrates’ Courts for all witnesses, whether or not they
are victims, this also includes defence witnesses. They
provide:
- A chance to see the court beforehand and learn about court
procedure
- A quiet place to wait
- Someone to go with you into the courtroom when giving
evidence
- Practical help e.g. with expenses forms
- Easier access to people who can answer specific questions about
the case
- A chance to talk over the case when it has ended and get
further information
- (Please note that the Witness Service cannot discuss evidence
or offer legal advice)
The teams are:
- Pam Harding - Area Manager
