responsibility for the Local Development Plan.
The Unitary Development Plan was adopted on the 26th March 2008.
It is now the development plan for the whole of the Neath Port
Talbot area. It replaces the West Glamorgan Structure Plan,
Minerals Local Plan, and the local plans that previously covered
the area.

&
SPG
The Notice of Adoption together with statements on the Strategic
Environmental Assessment and the Habitats Directive (Appropriate
Assessment) were published on the 17th April 2008.
The Notices, the adopted
UDP
(text and proposals maps),
the
SEA
and
Habitat Directive statements and the Development Plan Index are
available on this website (see below). They are also available for
inspection at libraries within the County Borough, the
Neath and
Port
Talbot Civic Centres and the One Stop Shop in Pontardawe.
The Authority resolved on the 24th July 2008 to
conclude the exercise of its powers concerning the Unitary
Development Plan.
The
UDP
will be
replaced when the new Local Development Plan is adopted – this is
anticipated in 2013.
Supplementary and Interim Planning Guidance
The following guidance was adopted on 9th July 2008 to support
and explain the policies in the
UDP
. All these documents
aim to help explain to applicants, landowners, developers,
interested groups and the community how the Authority is likely to
consider proposals and the information and action that is likely to
be required from applicants.

The affordable housing
SPG
was revised in April
2010.
As this was just for clarification purposes external consultation
was not deemed necessary.
The
SPG
and
IPG
listed above
were adopted by the Authority on the 9th July as
guidance supporting and explaining the policies in the
UDP
and the Authority’s Approach
to
TAN
8 : Renewable
Energy. The Authority determined that as the documents
relate to guidance and explanations and not policy, the
undertaking of Strategic Environmental Assessment under the
Environmental Assessment of Plans and Programmes (Wales)
Regulations 2004 was not required.
