Please note that at present, and for the
foreseeable future, the majority of our permanent job vacancies are
being advertised amongst existing employees only, with any
resultant vacancies not being filled. This is as a result of the
significant financial pressures affecting the Council and the
decision which has been taken to seek to minimise potential future
compulsory redundancies by minimising the number of new employees
who join the Council's workforce.
Some job vacancies will continue to be advertised externally but
these will mainly be where the Council does not have a sufficient
number of existing employees who are suitably experienced/qualified
or who do not possess the skills required for specialist
posts.
The Council is continuing to advertise "internal applicants only"
vacancies on this website as many of our employees do not work in
office-based locations and they access the Jobs page of this
website from home.
