The scheme based in the Dulais Valley recently won the title of Best Community Transport Operator 2011 at the Community Transport Wales annual awards dinner at Llandrindod Wells.
Susan Evans, DANSA's Transport Co-ordinator, collected the award on behalf of the scheme, which is widely acknowledged to be an excellent example of just how effective an innovative service provider can be.
Initially the scheme was set up to serve the residents of the Dulais Valley, operating with a single wheelchair accessible vehicle.
It has since expanded and developed its range of services across the five valleys in response to ever increasing demand.
DANSA benefits valley residents by responding to their transport needs and offering them access to a choice of high quality transport services, ranging from a car scheme for individual users, to flexibly routed local bus services.
The scheme has grown its transport provision based on sound local knowledge and the services are planned and operated by a dedicated team of staff and volunteers.
Neath Port Talbot Community Transport based in Neath also received an award. Their driver Nigel Hewitt won the minibus driver of the year competition.
Councillor Ali Thomas, Leader of Neath Port Talbot Council said "I am proud that this Authority is a staunch supporter of community transport and that the contribution these services make in supporting our communities is now officially acknowledged at a national level."
