Policy for Waste Education

Aim

To contribute to the Authority’s Corporate and Community Plan aims and objectives by improving the quality of educational material and methods available to all sectors of the community, thereby ensuring that everyone is aware of the various services available to them and how best they might contribute to sustainable waste.

In order to do this we will: -

• Promote best practice in waste minimisation and recycling in the wider community.
• Raise awareness of sustainable waste management amongst all employees of the Authority.
• Support regional and national educational and promotional campaigns, as appropriate.
• Develop links with National Waste Awareness Initiative.
• Develop the Waste Minimisation Plan to further the educational process.
• Encourage local businesses to become involved in waste minimization and recycling.
