The circus everyone wants to join

Now with Parklife you can! Taking up a week-long residency on Pontardawe Recreational Fields, No Fit State circus company ditches the big top, rips up the rulebook and invites you to get involved.

With a spectacular aerial circus playground and open house programme of taster sessions, rehearsals and workshops, NoFit State will be working with local artists and community groups to develop new acts and routines.

From live music jams to street dance routines and displays of extreme sports - everything will be on show and up for grabs. Then, as the week draws to a close, all the elements come together in one largescale open-air FREE circus performance in Parklife - The Finale on Saturday 14th August.

The Programme

In the mornings, No Fit State will be training and rehearsing their gruelling acts and performances.

In the afternoons and evenings, they will be running free Open House sessions and meeting local performing arts and sports groups.

During the Open House sessions all Parklife activities will be public and free. You are welcome to come and watch our rehearsals where company members will be on hand to chat, host and explain what's happening.

Don't miss the spectacular free Parklife finale performance on Saturday 14th August, at Pontardawe Recreational Field, where all community groups will perform with No Fit State live on stage.

Community Groups Taking Part

We are pleased to introduce the groups taking part in this year's Parklife event.

MODE - Makers of Dance Energy

Makers of Dance Energy provide funky dance classes utilising the latest music, teaching techniques, styles and are dedicated to making dance fun and exciting. Street and Jazz dance allow students to increase their self belief and confidence, through creative teaching that develops co-ordination, flexibility and rhythm.

Circadian Fitness

Show people that exercise needn't be boring and dull, sessions are made fun and interesting for the participants. Circadian fitness are a pole dancing fitness group that help members increase agility and flexibility, build on core strength, increased overall strength and endurance and build confidence.

Welsh Bockers

Bocking is all about freedom, expression and confidence. Bocking is charismatic and challenging on many levels and that's without mentioning the adrenaline rush and sheer excitement of doing a backflip 7 foot in the air. The feeling the bockers get takes a little bit from gymnastics, trampolining and free running. The result is a very active and appealing 21st century sport.

Free Runners

Urban acrobatics in which participants, known as free runners, use the city and rural landscape to perform movements through its structures. It incorporates efficient movements such as tricking and street stunts, creating an athletic and aesthetically pleasing way of moving. It is commonly practiced at gymnasiums and in urban areas that are cluttered with obstacles.

Organised Kaos - Keeping Adolescents Off The Street's.

A youth circus group set in the heart of the Amman Valley, the young people have mastered a range of dangerous and challenging performance skills in a controlled and safe environment, executed to a standard which has astounded the local community, and circus professionals alike.

Cwmcarn Gymnastics Club

A competitive and recreational club offering Acrobatics Gymnastics, General and Artistic gymnastics.  The aim of the club is to encourage children of any standard and ability to enjoy gymnastics, with classes for children aged 3½ years upwards and has a thriving membership. Cwmcarn gymnasts have won medals in British, NDP and Celtic Cup competitions: Acrobatics (all levels) - Prep to National 4 Women Pairs, Mixed Pairs, Trios and Women Group. Tumbling – Welsh Tumbling Championships, National Development Plan.

Directions and Parking

By Road from M4

Leave the M4 at junction 45 and take the A4076 signposted to Pontardawe. At the first roundabout go straight ahead (second exit). At the second roundabout go straight ahead. At the third roundabout (Tescos Superstore) take the second exit left. At the fourth Roundabout go strait ahead third exit onto Pontardawe Industrial estate. Parking will be signposted and stewarded from there.

From Brecon

Follow the A4067 into Pontardawe. Take the third exit at the Tesco Superstore roundabout and contune down the road. At the next roundabout go straight ahead (third exit) onto Pontardawe Industrial estate. Parking will be signposted and stewarded from there.
