Which areas of Wales have Objective 1 Status?

West Wales and the Valleys is designated as an Objective 1 area. This includes Neath Port Talbot, Swansea, Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, Conwy, Denbighshire, Torfaen, Blaneau Gwent, Rhondda Cynon Taff, Merthyr Tydfil, Caerphilly, Bridgend, Gwynedd, Anglesey.

How do I apply for Objective 1 funding?

An applicant will have to complete a full application form and submit it to the Welsh European Funding Office for appraisal. The process can seem daunting but the European Office will guide you through the application process. Can Objective 1 fund disability access for buildings?

Yes, if the access forms part of a large project. If it is just a one off improvement to an existing facility then Paul Hinder, Grants Section 01639 763390 may be able to help.

Can you tell me if I can have funding to increase broadband coverage in my area?

The local Authority has a broadband grant available to businesses in Neath Port Talbot, contact Julie Davies, Business Services on 01639 764396. As for general broadband coverage the Welsh Assembly Government has received Objective 1 funding to increase coverage across Wales. What Objective 1 projects are there in my area?

Neath Port Talbot has many projects that impact throughout the County Borough including the New Learning Network, which has a wide network of Local Action Centres. Business Connect and Neath Port Talbot College have a range of projects which are available to all residents of the County Borough. I live in a Communities First Area, are we eligible for extra funding?

Most communities first wards are classified under the Objective 1 programme as a Priority 3 or Priority 5 area. This means that they eligible to access a specific funding pot for Neath Port Talbot.
