General Standards

The accommodation should be to the standard required by law. Of particular relevance to HMOs are the requirements of the Housing Act 2004, Environmental Protection Act 1990, Defective Premises Act 1972, Landlord and Tenant Act 1985.

It is the landlord and managers responsibility to maintain an awareness of all current legislation relating to standards within HMOs and this would include the need to be aware of Planning and Building Control enforced matters.
