Housing Management
The Council Housing Management section is responsible for managing 9,700 properties spread throughout the County Borough. The Service has properties along the coastal plain and in all five valleys in the Borough, The Upper Swansea Valley, Amman Valley, Vale of Neath, Dulais Valley and The Afan Valley. Many of the properties are located in scenic rural locations or on the coast others are contained in the main towns of Port Talbot, Neath and Pontardawe.
The Housing Service has over 500 properties in sheltered schemes scattered throughout the Borough, such schemes have a resident scheme manager who is present in the scheme acting as a good neighbour. In addition there are also a significant number of properties that are designated for the elderly with no warden allowing ease of access but totally independent living. The rest of the properties within the housing stock are made up of one, two and three bed flats, and one, two, three and four bed houses.
The Borough is well served with Transport links with Intercity Train Services stopping in Neath and Port Talbot on to Bristol and then on to London Paddington. There are Airports nearby in both Swansea and Cardiff with Internal and International Services, and a ferry port in Swansea with regular year round sailings to Ireland. The M4 dissects the Borough to the South putting Cardiff Swansea and Bridgend within easy reach and the Heads of the Valley Road will take travellers quickly from Neath in the West to Ebbw Vale in Gwent in the East. Bus Stations in Neath and Port Talbot have services to most of the major cities and Airports in the UK.
