School Organisation Plan (SOP)

The School Standards and Framework Act 1998 places an obligation on each Local Education Authority to prepare a School Organisation Plan (SOP) for its area. The original Plan follows the Education (School Organisation Plans) (Wales) Regulations and guidance contained in the Welsh Office Circular 26/99. The Plan is not only a contextual document, but also draws conclusions about school places provision and the need for action to add or remove school places and is subject to consultation.
