The Connect2 Project linking 79 communities within the UK
including Aberavon Seafront to Afan Forest Park has beaten off all
competitors to win The Peoples £50 Million
Contest!
The three other projects competing for the big lottery give away
were the Black Country Urban Park, Sherwood: The Living Legend and
the Eden Project, Connect2 was the only community based project
that benefited all local residents in 79 communities.

Connect2 in your area:
The Connect2 Project aims to transform local travel in 79
communities across the UK by creating safe routes for walking and
cycling. The new routes will enable local people to overcome
barriers such as railways, busy roads and rivers; connecting them
to where they want to go.
The narrow, busy roads through the Afan Valley are unsuitable
for walking or cycling, so the Connect2 project aims to create a
network of safe, attractive footpaths and cycle tracks linking
local people to facilities such as schools, shops and green spaces.
The planned paths and bridges will provide connections from
Aberavon Seafront to Afan Forest Park, enabling local people to travel
throughout the Afan Valley in a way that benefits their health and
the environment.

Living Landmarks: The People’s Millions competition
Connect2 is competing with five other projects for one grant of
up to £50 million from the Big
Lottery Fund Living Landmarks: The People’s Millions
Competition. In autumn 2007 it will be announced which of the
six projects are to go forward to a televised public vote on ITV in
December, where it will be decided which project wins the grant.
Your support is vital for Connect2 to be successful in winning the
vote, and have the chance to transform the way people travel in
communities throughout the UK.
