Means Tested Benefits

Working under 16 hours a week

  • Income Support or Income based JSA
  • The Social Fund

Working 16 hours or more

  • Working Tax Credit
  • Social Fund: Crisis Loans. Funeral & Maternity Expenses Payments only

In either Case

  • Child Tax Credit
  • Housing Benefit
  • Council Tax Benefit
  • Health Benefits on low income grounds

Non-Means Tested Benefits

Earnings replacement

None specifically but different earnings restrictions apply to each benefit:

  • Incapacity Benefit – still payable if doing Supported or permitted work
  • Carer’s Allowance – still payable if earning under £82

Additional benefits

None specifically – but:

  • Disability Living Allowance
  • Industrial/War Injuries Benefits

can still be claimed even in full time work
