European Funding 2014 – 2020
From 2014–2020 Wales will benefit from over £2 billion of European funding from the European Structural Investment (ESI) funds.
European funding helps support people into work and training, youth employment, research and innovation, business (SMEs) competitiveness, renewable energy and energy efficiency, and connectivity and urban development.
Neath Port Talbot benefits from European funding as it is part of the West Wales and the Valleys programme area.
What will happen post Brexit?
Once the UK leaves the European Union we will not continue to receive EU funding. However, the UK Treasury has committed to financially support all projects approved by December 2020.
The UK Government has issued approximately 70 technical notices to prepare businesses and the public for a ‘no deal’ Brexit.
The UK Government has issued specific technical notices for funding, including European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the European Social Fund (ESF).
