Infectious disease control

Local Authorities are notified of cases of food poisoning and certain other food borne illnesses. The Food Team are responsible for investigating individual cases and also outbreaks of food poisoning.

The purpose of the investigation is to try to prevent the spread of illness within the community and to try and establish possible causes. Advice is also given to the patient on how to prevent the spread of infection within the home.
