How do I obtain a copy Certificate?
You can obtain a copy certificate of a Birth, Death, or Marriage that has taken place in England and Wales since 1st July 1837 from the Register Office for the district in which the event occurred.
Personal applications may be made at the Register Office (no appointment required) or by post.
At the Register Office you will be asked to complete a short application form.
Should you wish to apply by post you can either download the application form or please provide the following information::
- Full name at birth
- Date of birth
- Place of birth
- Parent’s names
- Birth mother’s maiden name
- Full name
- Place of death
- Date of death
- Date of birth
- Home address at the time of death
- If married or in civil partnership, the name of spouse or civil partner
- Date of Marriage
- Names of couple
- Maiden names
- Place of marriage
Standard copy Birth, Death or Marriage certificates provided within 5 working days following receipt of application will be £10.00 per certificate.
If certificates are required the same day then a priority service charge of £6.00 will be charged per certificate. Therefore each certificate will be £16.00.
Cheques or postal orders should be made payable to ‘NPTCBC’, we do not accept cash through the post.
For overseas customers, please ensure cheques are expressed in Sterling and drawn on a London Bank.
