Special events process

Please be aware that Special Events/Events Management/SAG ideally request six months' notice of events likely to attract more than 500 people or with sufficient safety risks at lower attendances. Three months' notice is required by the local authority for events with attendances of less than 500 people and low risk levels.

NB: The 500 people noted above is including the staff present at the event.

Organisers of outdoor events are required to contact the Special Events Team on 01639 686415 / 01639 763950 or specialevents@npt.gov.uk so that their event can be registered.

Event organisers will be required to register their event by completing and returning an Event Registration Form (see the Documents section) to specialevents@npt.gov.uk.  Alternatively, organisers can send the Event Registration Form to Special Events, Corporate Health & Safety Section, The Quays, Brunel Way, Baglan Energy Park, Neath, SA11 2GG.

This will not only allow us to evaluate the potential hazards and scope of your event, but also discern whether or not the Safety Advisory Group need to become involved in the event's organisation process.

Occasionally, you may be asked to attend a SAG meeting to discuss your proposals with the group if your event is deemed necessary for SAG intervention. Smaller scale events may not require your attendance.

The How to register an event page will take you through the step by step process of registering and holding your event and details the other information we will require.
