Town Centres Reopening

What is happening and when?

The Welsh Government has announced that non-essential retail businesses can reopen on Monday 22nd June.

It's not business as usual, but we are working hard to make people’s experience of our town centres as safe and enjoyable as possible.

We are working with a range of stakeholders to protect the health and wellbeing of everyone; whether they are working or shopping in our town centres.

How are we preparing?

Our focus is to maximise protection of shoppers and people working in our town centres whilst enabling businesses to reopen.

We are now working to put the necessary safety measures in place in our three main town centres to welcome shoppers back.

Signage placed throughout all our town centres will remind people of the need to respect social distancing and to remember to regularly and thoroughly wash their hands.

In the short term, Town Centre Rangers will be on hand to support shoppers and businesses. They will help with cleansing, in addition to monitoring the effectiveness of health and safety measures put in place. The results of that monitoring, together with ongoing consultation with businesses, will enable us to adapt our measures to ensure they are fit for purpose.

Our Town Centre Rangers will be supported by PCOs to further support and safeguard visitors to our town centres.
