NPT Volunteer Scheme

Recruitment for our NPT Safe & Well Volunteer Scheme is now open to people living in Neath Port Talbot.

Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, volunteers have played a key role in helping our most vulnerable residents alongside our NPT Safe & Well initiative. We are now looking to build on our existing bank of volunteers to help those who don’t have the support of friends and family.

We need volunteers to help residents with everyday tasks that they are unable to do themselves.

This could include:

  • helping someone with their shopping,
  • collecting medical prescriptions from the local pharmacy
  • posting mail or walking someone’s dog
  • making regular phone calls to check someone is okay.

All volunteers will undergo online training before starting and will be fully supported by our dedicated Volunteer Coordinator.

FAQs

(Q) How much time will I need to give up to become a volunteer?
(A) The amount of time and what days you commit to is completely up to you. You can state this on the application form.

(Q) What if there are certain tasks I wouldn’t like to do?
(A) If there are certain tasks you would or wouldn’t like to do, this can also be agreed before you start.

(Q) Will I be asked to go inside someone’s home?
(A) No. Volunteers will not be asked to enter a person’s home or breach public health advice provided by the government on social distancing.

(Q) I don’t drive, can I still apply?
(A) Yes. If you don’t drive, we can arrange for you to help those within walking distance to your home.
