Benefits of becoming a Ward Councillor at NPTCBC
The Local Government (Wales) Measure 2011 established the Independent Remuneration Panel for Wales (IRPW). The IRPW produces a report each year which sets out the payments that Councillors are entitled to receive. Visit the IRPW for updated reports on pay.
The Council operates a car parking scheme for Councillors at particular locations. The scheme is now completed online through the MiPermit virtual permit system. Further details of the scheme, and how you obtain a car parking permit can be discussed during Members Induction.
Once elected, you are provided with appropriate ICT equipment in order to support you in your role as a Member. Training is carried out to ensure that you are comfortable with using the devices and are aware of the various features. The ICT Team and Democratic Services Team work very closely in helping Members with any equipment issues that may arise and are always on hand to provide support.
The Local Government Pension Scheme is available to all Councillors under the age of 75. For more details on this please visit the City and County of Swansea Pension Fund website.
If you would like to know more about being a Councillor for NPTCBC, you could speak informally to one of the current political group Leaders or other Councillors.
