Entry to work

Your journey starts here

Whether you’re just starting to think about your career options, searching for your first job or looking for a change or career or to return to work following a break, our entry to work routes aim to support everyone.

However you join us, once you become part of Team NPT, we’ll work hard to ensure the right opportunities are available as you develop and grow. With the flexibility to move into different departments at the council, you’ll be able to build a rewarding and successful career as well as having the chance to shape the future of our region.

All our entry to work vacancies will be listed on our Search and Apply page.

Guaranteed Interview Schemes

We are a Disability Confident Employer, committed to interview all disabled applicants if they meet the minimum requirements of the job.

We also commit to interview all Armed Forces veterans who meet the essential criteria stated on the person specification for the role they are applying for.

Apprenticeships

We offer a wide range of apprenticeships from Level 1 to 4+, covering a range of job areas including Business Administration, Customer Services, Carpentry, Electrical Engineering, ICT and Health and Social Care, to name just a few. You’ll have a clear career path and a starting salary that matches the minimum wage. Apprenticeships are a great way to start your career or change your career and learn something new

Work Experience

Anyone can apply for a work placement with us. We work with school, college and university students, as well as non-students, to support and source work placements.

Placements are not paid and are available in most directorates however we may reserve the right to withhold the opportunity of work experience in some areas of work where a genuine occupational requirement would deem the placement inappropriate. We may be unable to offer a guarantee of acceptance due to the high demand of requests that we receive however we will endeavour to place as many applicants as possible.
