Croeserw Community Enterprise Centre
Croeserw Community Enterprise Centre is a brand new purpose built, easily accessible facility, situated in an outstanding natural environment with beautiful views of the Upper Afan Valley.
The centre aims to provide traditional community activities alongside opportunities for enterprise and entrepreneurship and seeks to act as a catalyst for the further regeneration of the community. A state of the art building offering multiple activities for use by community groups, individuals, voluntary organisations, public and private sector organisations the centre is the perfect location for meetings, exhibitions, training sessions, seminars and conferences. The centre is an exciting mix of learning, business and community activities all under one roof.
The first round of training courses started at the centre in January 2014 and have proved very popular . Courses include plastering, DIY, general construction, carpentry, bricklaying, hair and beauty, digital photography, cookery, Ipads to name a few and take place one day per week and range from 10 to 30 weeks in duration. The courses are accredited and taught at each learners own pace, there's also a lot of laughter and fun and it's a great way to meet new friends. There is also a rolling programme of courses organised by Communities First including Paediatric First aid, Food Safety, Manual Handling, Health and Safety etc.
The café facility has been a huge success with people coming from far and wide to enjoy the delicious food on offer. Prices are very reasonable and along with a traditional menu of all day cooked breakfasts, paninis, sandwiches, jacket potatoes, children's meals etc. there is also a daily specials board with lovely hot meals available including curries, bangers and mash, faggots and pea and much more. The café is open all day so come along and have some great tasting food while enjoying a panoramic view of the Upper Afan Valley.
Activities and Events
Come along to the playgroup for lots of toys, singalongs and fun for pre-school children every Friday between 12.30-2.30pm .
Run by local residents, the Monday night youth club is for 4-11 year olds and held between 4-5.30pm. Always very popular, the club has too many activities going on to mention here and they urgently require volunteers (particularly male) to help out. If you want more information or would like to volunteer please contact the centre.
You can also join in with Craft Groups and Bingo or start saving and join the Credit Union. And there's the free internet suite open all day Monday to Friday. 6 superfast computers available for anyone to come along and use.
Information and Advice
Afan Valley Communities First run a weekly job club at the centre, every Monday between 1.30-4.30pm where you can receive support with cv writing, interview techniques, application filling, setting up e-mail and much more. One to one sessions are also available for extra support. Welfare Rights also hold regular sessions every Thursday 1-3pm (appointment only)
There is a Job Centre Employment Support Advisor based at the centre to provide a wide range of advice and support relating to jobs and benefits. The advisor is also available for individual sessions and attends job clubs throughout the Upper Afan Valley.
Councillor Scott Jones is based at the centre and has a regular surgery where you can get information and advice and enquire about the services your Council provides.
Regular Enterprise Clubs are held where you can get lots of free advice and support on starting your own business including information on grants, help to write a business plan, legal advice etc.
Don’t forget the main hall and the multi use games area are available to hire for children's parties and the hairdressing salon is taking bookings for pamper parties.
