Description

I’m a gentleman in my 30s living in the Neath area.

I am social and friendly but need a lot of support and encouragement to make sure I attend appointments and look after myself. I live alone and need support to remain independent.

I have a mild learning difficulty, diabetes and an alcohol dependency.

Purpose

I need somebody who is down to earth while being strong enough to put boundaries in place and ensuring these are met. I would require support with medical appointments, shopping, household tasks and prompts with personal hygiene.

A car owner is essential for the role as I need support to access the community for shopping and medical appointments. I will also need support with daily tasks such as the managing of any correspondence arriving at my home and the managing of monies.

Tasks

To promote my independence and keep me active with a PA who is patient, calm, mature and a good buddy.

  • Take me shopping and collect my medication.
  • Some support and encouragement around the house to complete chores.
  • Some assistance with correspondence.
  • Assisting me to organise and manage my money and household activities.
  • Any other reasonable duties.

  • Someone who will treat me with respect and dignity
  • Someone who is caring but firm
  • Previous experience is preferred but not essential
  • Car driver essential.

Hours

12 Hours a week in total.

Hours will preferably be split between 2 PA’s doing 6 hours each.

Hours to be worked Thursday to Sunday approx. 3 hours per day.

Exact times to be confirmed at interview.

 

Additional cover hours may be offered from time to time.

If requested by the employer, two satisfactory references must be provided. This post is subject to a trial period of 1 month and a probationary period of up to 6 months.

Wages will be paid on a 4 weekly or monthly basis once a valid National Insurance (NI) number has been provided. You must be eligible to work in the UK and your employer will conduct document checks prior to commencement.

You will receive the appropriate annual leave entitlement as well as all other statutory entitlements, details of which will be set out in your contract of employment. You will also be issued with a Personal Assistants Handbook when your employment commences.

You will be expected to undertake any mandatory training identified as relevant to this post. The cost of mandatory training will be met through the direct payment. Failure to attend mandatory training may result in your employment offer being withdrawn.
