help because of their age or disability, to enable them to live as
independently as possible.
Personal Assistants are employed directly by
people who receive a direct payment to
arrange and pay for their support. Personal assistants are

The duties of a PA vary widely and depend on
what the person would like to do – what kind and when they need the
support outlined in their care and support plan.
This could include supporting the person with
a variety of tasks such as:
