Citizenship ceremonies

To apply to become a British Citizen, please visit the Government Website.

If your application is successful you will receive a letter from the Home Office advising you to contact the Register Office.  The Home Office will send the Register Office a letter and certificate in readiness for your Citizenship ceremony. This is the final step of becoming a British citizen.

Ceremonies for the County Borough of Neath Port Talbot are held at the Neath Register Office. The standard ceremony is for up to 10 applicants. The ceremony will be held in the presence of the Superintendent Registrar and the Mayor of the County Borough.

The cost of a private ceremony will be £75.00.

New citizens are required to make an oath or affirmation of allegiance to the Crown.  The ceremony will last approximately 20 minutes during which you will receive your Nationality certificate and a welcome pack from the Home Office.

After the ceremony you will be presented with a welcome gift and have the opportunity of taking your own photographs with the Mayor.

Please note that we are not able to book you in for a ceremony until we have received your certificate from the Home Office.

For more information, please contact the Register Office.
