Yew tree

Yew Trees are claimed to be the longest-living in Europe. They can live 600-800 years, sometimes over 1000. Trees with a girth of 4.9-7 meters are classed as veteran, anything larger is ancient. Most veteran Yews are now found in church yards.  Two of the Yews in Glyncorrwg are classed as veteran making them between 500-1200 years old. All parts of Yew are highly toxic apart from the red berry-like aril which surrounds the seed.

Best spot = St John the Baptist Church, Glyncorrwg.
