Parent Guidance

The plans outlined below set out how school transport in Neath Port Talbot will resume.  These plans will be updated subject to further Government guidance and re-circulated as the return to school programme progresses. This guidance should be read and adopted by all pupils who use School Transport services provided by the Council.

Is my child eligible?

Your child will be entitled to receive free school transport if the following apply:

  • Primary school age pupils:  

    • Of compulsory school age and

    • Resident in the authority or is looked after by the authority and
    • Attending their nearest suitable or designated school and
    • Living two miles or more from their school. The distance is measured according to the shortest available walking route, and may include footpaths.
  • Secondary school age pupils:

    • Of compulsory school age and
    • Resident in the authority or looked after by the authority and
    • Attending their nearest suitable or designated school and
    • Living three miles or more from the school. The distance is measured by the shortest available walking route.

If you think your child qualifies for free school transport, please apply online.  We also provide transport for children with Additional Learning Needs.
