Communities for Work (CfW) & Communities for Work Plus(CfW+)

Are you unemployed and hoping to get back into work?
Would you like to attend training courses to learn new skills or improve the skills you have?
Are you in employment, but working part time or on a low wage and looking to improve your situation?
If you have answered YES to any of the above questions then we may be able to help you.
Communities for Work and Communities for Work Plus are here to assist you with issues you may need help with, such as:
- C.V. writing
- Training opportunities
- Interview techniques
- Confidence building
- Online job searching and filling in application forms
- Benefits advice
Childcare costs: if you need to attend a training course, interview or placement and need help with covering the costs of childcare;
Travel Costs: to attend training courses, interviews, or placements, and we can help with the costs of getting you there;
Clothing costs: so you feel well-dressed and confident enough to attend interviews, placements or to start work, we can help with the cost of buying you something smart to wear;
Personal Protective Equipment: if you need items like safety boots or waterproof clothing for attending a course or placement, we can pay for these for you.
We can arrange training courses for you on a wide variety of subjects including some of the following:
- SIA Licence (Security Industry Authority)
- CSCS card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme)
- PTS Rail Track (Personal Track Safety)
- Small Plant and Tools
- COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health)
- LGV Training with Licence
- Safeguarding Children and Young People
- Paediatric First Aid
- Food Safety

We are a team of friendly and experienced staff, who are committed to help you improve your employment opportunities. We have extensive connections with local employers in the Neath Port Talbot area and are dedicated to ensuring that you receive all the assistance required from us to get you into suitable employment and/or improve your prospects. This is not a mandatory service but please come and see us to take advantage of all the opportunities we can offer you.

How are we funded?
The above programmes are funded as follows:
- CfW: Funded by Welsh Government and European Social Fund and co-sponsored by the Department for Work and Pensions
- CfW+: Funded by Welsh Government
CfW and CfW+ is available across the whole of Neath Port Talbot and is split into 4 delivery areas:
Each delivery area has its own community office and team who deliver the programme.
