Decarbonisation and Renewable Energy Strategy (September 2019)

On 30th April 2019, the Welsh Government declared a climate emergency. The announcement drew attention in Wales to the magnitude and significance of the latest evidence on climate change.
Tackling climate change requires collective action and in its role as a community leader, landowner, employer, regulatory body and service provider, it is important that the Council leads by example and continues to commit to doing its fair share to reduce carbon emissions to help achieve national targets.
The Council is therefore consulting on its draft ‘Decarbonisation and Renewable Energy Strategy’ – the document outlines the Council’s overarching vision, objectives, sets out what the Council has already achieved and identifies the future opportunities that exist

Rights of Way Improvement Plan (2019-2029)

The Neath Port Talbot ‘Rights of Way Improvement Plan’ (ROWIP) was initially published for the period 2008-2018. In 2017, the Council undertook an assessment of current provision and a consultation exercise to gather views from the public on the quality and condition of Public Rights of Way (PROW) and the wider countryside; their use of these routes; and the measures that could be taken to encourage greater use of the countryside.

Following this assessment and public consultation, the decision was taken to prepare a new ROWIP for Neath Port Talbot. This new plan, covering the period 2019-2029, sets out the means by which the Council intends to improve and promote access to the countryside across Neath Port Talbot over the next decade.
