Keep up to date www.npt.gov.uk/coronavirus

Reopening

Work is being done to remove swings and associated chains from “double bay” swing installations to leave just one swing in place so social distancing can be achieved. Almost all of Neath Port Talbot’s 50 playgrounds have “double bay” swings.

Prominent signs will inform users of the following:

  • Only one adult should be accompanying children at a time
  • Do not bring food and drink into the play area
  • Leave if the play area is overcrowded
  • Please do not use the facility if you have symptoms of Covid-19
  • Allow others to leave before you enter the playground and do not wait close to play equipment
  • The playgrounds are not staffed or cleaned after each use so please use hand sanitiser and wash your hands
  • Avoid touching your face and cough or sneeze into a tissue and dispose of safely

About our playgrounds

Neath Port Talbot Council provides 50 play areas with facilities that cater for users of all ages of children. Most provide for the 3-12 age range.

The play areas vary in size and the number of play units. They are regularly inspected to meet health and safety requirements.

It’s our aim to provide challenging, fun and safe play areas that are available to all users. We recognise that play is vital for children and young people to make friends, learn about themselves and the world around them. Traditional play equipment such as swings and roundabouts are available along with areas for older children, such as Taibach Ballcourt and skateboard ramps at the Seafront and James Field.

A list of locations where play areas can be found in Neath Port Talbot is available below. All of the play areas are managed by Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council.
