DPSS443 - Personal Assistant - 20 hours - Neath
Please note: Female applicants only, due to the intimate nature of the care required
I am a lady in my 70s living in central Neath. I am looking to employ a Personal Assistant to join my team of support workers who are always with me in my home, to ensure that I am safe and promote my independence.
I have an acquired brain injury, which has left me with short-term memory loss and many other hidden disabilities. My mobility is severely restricted due to age related issues and hospital stays due to illness and a stroke. Due to this reduced mobility I require support with getting up and moving about, using manual aids such as a hoist.
I require reminding and prompting, and also support to access the community. I am good fun and enjoy learning how to use my iPad, playing cards, doings arts and crafts, and going out for meals and attending social groups.
Looking to employ a PA on a minimum of 20 hours per week. Additional hours are available to cover sick and holiday leave.
We operate a 3 shift pattern. Hours / shifts to be discussed in interview, but are typically 8:45am to 3:30pm, 2:45pm to 10:15pm and 9:30pm to 10:15am the next morning. Start and finish times can be varied depending on your personal circumstances. Shifts will cover both days and nights, weekdays and weekends as the person requires 24/7 support.
Personal Assistants will need to be flexible to cover the team’s annual leave, maternity leave and sickness.

I am an 8 year old boy living in Sandfields. I enjoy being on my iPad at home, and watching Monster Truck and Disney’s Cars. I like going swimming and to play areas.
I am Autistic. I have Global Development Delay and I have very little speech, but I am able to tell you what I want by pointing and leading you. I have a fun and cheeky personality but I can get frustrated easily. I experience challenging behaviour, for which training will be provided. I am very sensory, I like hugs. Or just high fives, depending how I'm feeling.
I am looking for a COVER PA to support me in going out to places I enjoy, such as Indoor play areas, swimming in the LC2 in Swansea.
The PA will need to support me with toileting and continence aid changes.
The PA will need to be confident, calm and consistent in their approach, as well as vigilant as I have no safety awareness. My Mam will also provide a seatbelt lock, as sometimes I do get excited and will try to get out of my seat fairly quickly in the carpark.
The PA will need to be patient but firm, as I have no understanding of time, or when an activity is due to end. I may get frustrated and show outbursts which do include me hitting out sometimes.
