Description

I am a 64 year old gentleman living in the Sandfields area of Port Talbot.  I enjoy sea-fishing and generally getting out and about in the community.  Music is my passion and I used to enjoy going to concerts. I enjoy watching a variety of films. I am a stroke survivor and experience weakness down the left side of my body. I have a large German Shepherd dog who can be loud but is friendly. The post is for up to 15 hours per week, but I am open to discussion if you are not able to commit to the full 15 hours.  

Purpose

  • Support me to go out for a walk, go for coffee and generally out in the community.
  • Support me around the house, cleaning, dish washing, laundry, changing the bed, etc. 
  • Support me to go to the gym
  • Drive my mobility car (automatic)
  • Push my wheelchair when accessing the community
  • I have right sided weakness so require some personal care where I am unable to do this for myself. 

Person Type

A person who:

  • Doesn’t mind dogs
  • Has a good personality and sense of humour
  • Is reliable
  • Driving licence is essential

Hours

Up to 15 hour per week – Days and times are flexible. Ongoing cover for a minimum of 2 to 3 months. I am open to discussion if you are not able to commit to the full 15 hours.

If requested by the employer, two satisfactory references must be provided. This post is subject to a trial period of 1 month and a probationary period of up to 6 months.

Wages will be paid on a 4 weekly or monthly basis once a valid National Insurance (NI) number has been provided. You must be eligible to work in the UK and your employer will conduct document checks prior to commencement.

You will receive the appropriate annual leave entitlement as well as all other statutory entitlements, details of which will be set out in your contract of employment. You will also be issued with a Personal Assistants Handbook when your employment commences.

You will be expected to undertake any mandatory training identified as relevant to this post. The cost of mandatory training will be met through the direct payment. Failure to attend mandatory training may result in your employment offer being withdrawn.
