Building Regulations are a set of standards for the design and construction of buildings to ensure the safety and health of people who use and go around those buildings. They also include requirements to ensure that fuel and power is conserved and that facilities are provided for people with disabilities.
You have a legal requirement to notify your local authority Building Control Section when you intend to carry out any building work that is covered by the Building Regulations 2010.

There are 3 different application types requiring different levels of information, there is only 1 application form it can be downloaded below.
The traditional way of notifying us of the work proposed
A notice to the Council of your intention to carry out building work
when you have carried out work without Building Regulations approval.
Simply attach a completed application form, any plans, drawings, specifications or calculations as a pdf file to an e mail to email@example.com . Please supply contact details so that we may arrange for the required fee to be paid, and continue with the registration and processing of your application.
