Parents and professionals working together
We would like to invite you to join in a confidential focus group meeting to talk about the kind of support parents need when involved with social services and about the role of parent advocates. A parent advocate is someone who has been through the difficult experience of having their child placed on the child protection register and possibly placed in care, but has since bounced back and improved their circumstances and is now in a position to help and support other parents going through similar experiences.
We understand that training parents to be advocates by teaching them the role of advocacy and the rules of the child welfare system has been a key to the success of involving parents in decision-making in other countries.
We would like to speak with you in a focus group of parents with similar experiences to share your views and to help us to develop parent advocacy locally. You can remain anonymous. Only written notes of the discussion will be taken and nothing will identify you from the notes that are taken. If you have any questions, please email PANconsultation@npt.gov.uk or call (01639) 686090
