Visitors to our websites

When someone visits www.npt.gov.uk or one of our hosted partner sites, a log is automatically kept which can be used to gather information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site. We collect this information in a way which does not identify anyone. We do not make any attempt to find out the identities of anyone visiting our websites. We will not associate any data gathered from this site with any personally identifying information from any source. If we do want to collect personally identifiable information through our website, we will be up front about this. We will make it clear when we collect personal information and will explain what we intend to do with it.

Where we have embedded functionality from other organisations into our website, for example, from SOCITM, Google or Facebook, please note that the processing and storage of information relating to your visit takes place on their servers and not ours. For instance, if you use the Facebook “like” button, or use the Facebook “Comment” facility, a record of this information is held by Facebook, and not by NPT.

We use Google Analytics and Crazy Egg to collect information about how people use this site. We do this to make sure it is meeting its users’ needs and to understand how we could do it better. Google Analytics stores information about which pages you visit, how long you are on the site, how you got here and what you click on. This information cannot be used to identify you and we do not allow Google to use our analytics data. Crazy Egg stores information about where you click within a page. Again, the information cannot be used to identify you and we do not share it with anyone
