Housing Land Availability

The Studies are part of the evidence base for Local Development Plans. The Studies:

  • Provide a statement of housing land availability for development planning and management; and
  • Where an insufficient supply is identified, outline what the local planning authority is doing to address the shortfall.

The Studies also provide information on:

  • Housing completions;
  • Land availability on previously developed land; and
  • Land availability on sites subject to flood risk.

Joint Housing Land Availability Study 2020

Work has now progressed on the 2020 JHLAS, and will continue in accordance with the agreed timetable, with publication of the study scheduled for 31st August 2020.

Previous Studies

The latest 2019 JHLAS concludes that the Council has a land supply of 4.5 years.

[As the Council evidenced a land supply figure of 5.5 years during the LDP Examination, a separate 2015 JHLAS was not undertaken].
