Gypsy & Traveller Assessment

In accordance with Part 3 of the Housing (Wales) Act 2014 the Council has undertaken a new Gypsy and Traveller Accommodation Assessment to assess the future accommodation needs of the Gypsy and Traveller Community and determine whether there is a requirement for additional site provision within Neath Port Talbot for permanent residential pitches and / or transit pitches in the short term and up to 2026.

The Council received written confirmation on 28th November 2016 from Carl Sargeant (the Cabinet Secretary for Communities and Children) that the study had been approved.

This 2016 Study will now replace the previous study that was undertaken in 2012.
