The NPT Safe and Well Service was set up at the start of the coronavirus outbreak to support residents who were shielding and had nobody to call on for help with daily living tasks such as shopping and collecting medicines.
Following Welsh Government’s announcement to pause shielding from the 16th August, a number of changes have been made to our NPT Safe and Well Service.
Food boxes will be stopped from the week commencing 10th August. We will be contacting those who currently receive them to put alternative arrangements in place. This will include:
• Encouraging residents to return to the way they shopped before the coronavirus outbreak, if it is safe and reasonable to do so. This might involve providing advice on when shops are at the quietest or making the first trip to the shop with a supporting volunteer.
• Linking residents up with local businesses that offers a delivery service.
• Encouraging residents who are capable of shopping online to make use of the increased options for delivery or click and collect services now offered by supermarkets and other local businesses
• Connecting people who need ongoing support with a reputable local organisation that can provide longer term support.
Medication and support with daily tasks
We will continue to help residents with daily living tasks such as collecting medication, helping with errands and making checks on people’s wellbeing up until the 30th September.
After this our NPT Safe and Well Team members will be working alongside those who need help to put other arrangements in place. There are many organisations who can provide ongoing support in the community and our team members will be able to discuss these with you.
