More than £65,000 of funding has been secured from the EU-backed Green Sea programme, which aims to invest in improvements to the coastline.
The Green Sea (Beach Improvement) Programme forms part of Visit Wales' Coastal Tourism Project which is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund and the Welsh Government.
Green Sea funding has helped to build railings, seating and access paths, as well as a specially designed safe-surface play area with a range of play equipment. The play area includes bespoke as well as ‘off the peg’ play features and designed around a seaside theme.
This scheme also includes new information signage along the promenade and a wooden beach shelter at the heart of the sunken gardens.
The shelter provides seating and much needed shelter from the elements at the exposed seafront location. The shelter is themed upon the idea of beach groynes that form a wall with an overhead canopy. Both schemes were completed at the end of 2012.
