What is it?
Recycle+ is our improved recycling collection service, making it easier for households to recycle more materials at the kerbside, more often.
The households on the new service will have received the following:
Food waste and garden waste will continue to be collected in the same manner.
How does Recycle+ work?
All recycling (including plastics) will be collected weekly with the exception of garden waste, which will change to a collection every other week in line with refuse collections.
You can see our Recycling Guide to see what goes in each container, or download the Guide at the bottom of this page.
Why is the service changing?
The introduction of Recycle+ is part of our drive to increase recycling in Neath Port Talbot. Throwing rubbish away in landfill is not only expensive; it is bad for our local environment too.
We hope the new service will encourage people to recycle even more, as we have made it easier to use and are offering collection of a wider range of materials from the kerbside.
The Welsh Government has set out a requirement for all Councils in Wales to increase their recycling rate year on year, with a 58% recycling rate having to be achieved by 2016 and 64% by 2019/20. Strict fines will be imposed on local authorities if the targets are missed.
What areas will have the Recycle+ service?
The rollout of Recycle+ will take place across the whole of Neath Port Talbot, but will not cover every street to begin with.
Residents will be informed that they are switching to the new service by letter when their new equipment is delivered.
How do I order recycling equipment?
You can order recycling equipment online.
