DPSS499 - Personal Assistant - Pontardawe - 63 hours per week (wakeful nights) between 2 PA's (Ref: V000499)
Description
I am an 81 year old lady living in the Pontardawe area. I enjoy gardening, pottering in my greenhouse and talking about my life on the farm. I require reassurance as I can become anxious and must be supervised at all times. Personal assistants to encourage with activities that she engages with most. I require medication level C support.
Purpose
Tasks Include:
- Medication Level C (training to be provided).
- Supporting with my anxiety.
- Ensuring my safety at home as I am at risk of falls.
- Prompt to drink to ensure I am hydrated.
- Encouragement to return to bed.
- Must be supervised 24/7.
- Use distraction techniques in a sensitive way to prevent agitation.
- Encourage to participate in activities I am interested in and prompt to continue engagement.
- Support with activities such as quizzes with clues and pictures, art and crafts, board games and card games.
- Prompting to water my indoor plants.
- PA to keep communication simple in a step by step way.
Tasks
URGENT - 63 hours per week wakeful nights.
Position to be split between 2 PA’s
7 days a week – 10pm - 7am

A person who:
- Reliable
- Calm/Patient
- Trustworthy
- Understanding of a cognitive impairment is preferred but not essential.

If requested by the employer, two satisfactory references must be provided. This post is subject to a trial period of 1 month and a probationary period of up to 6 months.
Wages will be paid on a 4 weekly or monthly basis once a valid National Insurance (NI) number has been provided. You must be eligible to work in the UK and your employer will conduct document checks prior to commencement.
You will receive the appropriate annual leave entitlement as well as all other statutory entitlements, details of which will be set out in your contract of employment. You will also be issued with a Personal Assistants Handbook when your employment commences.
You will be expected to undertake any mandatory training identified as relevant to this post. The cost of mandatory training will be met through the direct payment. Failure to attend mandatory training may result in your employment offer being withdrawn.
