Vacancy Details

DPSS512 - Personal Assistant - 10 hours per week (approx) - Neath (Ref: V000512)

Location: Neath
Pay: £12.00
Closing: 27/03/2026

Description

I am a woman in my mid-fifties living in central Neath currently struggling with Fibromyalgia and Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) among other health conditions. I am looking to employ a PA to assist me to be as independent and as fulfilled as my current circumstances allow. I live with my dog and cat and consider myself to be friendly with a good sense of humour.

Each day is different due to my conditions. The FND causes fatigue, which can affect my vision, hearing, speech, memory and concentration. If I overdo things, I can become tired, and this can cause me to have a seizure.

My situation and conditions can cause me to have low moods, and I can get upset and frustrated with my situation. It means a lot to me when people research my conditions and show understanding for my circumstances and symptoms.

My condition will be discussed in the interview, and what steps you would be required to take, should I have a seizure when I’m with you, and how to recognise the signs of me becoming tired and verging on having a seizure.

Prior to my diagnosis and worsening health, I worked for an insurance company for many years and was very social. It is a challenge to adjust but with the right support I hope to improve my quality of life.

  • I need a PA who is willing to learn about FND, understands my needs and how the condition restricts me, how it affects me both physically and mentally, and for the PA to invest a personal concern in me.
  • Someone comfortable working in a home with pets
  • Someone who can undertake personal care tasks discretely and professionally.
  • Experience in the care sector; either formal or informal would be an advantage.
