I am a 21 year old Autistic man living with my family in Neath.

I am a non-verbal communicator, but I can understand some speech, and I can use some signs, such as please and thank you. I am epileptic and experience seizures. I am doubly incontinent.

I do not like to be sitting still and I enjoy being active, especially with creative and messy activities.

I need two PA's to support me for 6 hours per PA, per week, to allow me to go out into my local community and be active. The PA’s will support me with what I enjoy doing, such as swimming, going out for food in cafe's etc, walking in local parks and on the beaches, whilst being supported to stay safe.


  • Promote my independence.
  • Full support with medication, including Buccal Epilepsy rescue medication.
  • Support with personal care, dressing, continence aids and toileting.
  • Constant supervision when in the community due to lack of road safety awareness, and also that I will try and run off.
  • Food to be cut up to prevent risk of choking and supervision at mealtimes.

Person Type

A person who:

  • Car driver is essential.
  • Someone who will take the time to get to know me and anticipate my needs.
  • Someone who can become familiar with my known means of communication.
  • I experience challenging behaviour and need a PA that can manage this.
  • Someone who is willing to undergo the relevant medical training, as the PA will be required to administer my epilepsy buccal rescue medication.
  • Someone who is flexible and reliable.



6 hours per PA, per week (double staffed calls)

To be worked as 2 x 3 hour blocks from 3pm/ 3:30pm onward – days are flexible.

If requested by the employer, two satisfactory references must be provided. This post is subject to a trial period of 1 month and a probationary period of up to 6 months.

Wages will be paid on a 4 weekly or monthly basis once a valid National Insurance (NI) number has been provided. You must be eligible to work in the UK and your employer will conduct document checks prior to commencement.

You will receive the appropriate annual leave entitlement as well as all other statutory entitlements, details of which will be set out in your contract of employment. You will also be issued with a Personal Assistants Handbook when your employment commences.

You will be expected to undertake any mandatory training identified as relevant to this post. The cost of mandatory training will be met through the direct payment. Failure to attend mandatory training may result in your employment offer being withdrawn.
