Description

I’m a young man in my 20s living in Neath with my family. I have cerebral palsy and epilepsy which is controlled. I enjoy bowling, sports, rugby, all kinds of music and being outdoors when the weather is nice. I attend college and I’d like to learn to play guitar. My ideal PA would be someone with similar interests who can help me continue to develop my independence, help me to find ways to participate in activities I enjoy and who will motivate and encourage me. If you can also play the guitar and would be willing to give me a few lessons that would be a bonus!

  • Helping me to develop and maintain my independent living skills like managing my money
  • Working to motivate and encourage me to try new things
  • Helping me to keep in touch with my friends
  • Any other reasonable duties.

Person Type

A person who:

  • Is talkative, fun-loving and enthusiastic
  • Someone confident and proactive who can work with me to find things to do
  • Someone reliable and positive
  • Someone who understands the importance of independence and who will encourage me to maintain my independence.
  • Someone who can work flexibly
  • Car driver preferred
  • A guitar player would be an advantage.

Hours

4 hours per week

Hours will normally be worked on a Thursday, though may be on a Saturday from time to time. Exact times are flexible and can be agreed in advance.

This post may require a DBS check (the cost of which will be met by NPTCBC). If this post requires you to work with children then it is compulsory for you to have a DBS check prior to commencement.

If requested by the employer, two satisfactory references must be provided. This post is subject to a trial period of 1 month and a probationary period of up to 6 months.

Wages will be paid on a 4 weekly or monthly basis once a valid National Insurance (NI) number has been provided. You must be eligible to work in the UK and your employer will conduct document checks prior to commencement.

You will receive the appropriate annual leave entitlement as well as all other statutory entitlements, details of which will be set out in your contract of employment. You will also be issued with a Personal Assistants Handbook when your employment commences.

You will be expected to undertake any mandatory training identified as relevant to this post. The cost of mandatory training will be met through the direct payment. Failure to attend mandatory training may result in your employment offer being withdrawn.
