Description

I am an older lady living in the Bryncoch area of Neath. I am a former teacher and used to be a member of the Women’s Institute. I am looking for a personal assistant to support me both in my home and my community. I enjoy walking and spending time in nature. I love gardening, flowers and birds. I would like to be supported by the personal assistant to go to the shops and local garden centre, and to socialise with friends. I enjoy watching television dramas and listening to audio books. I am also a fan of classical music and previously was a member of a local choir.

Purpose

  • To support me with tasks that I may have difficulty with in the home and in the community due to my visual perception and coordination difficulties.
  • To assist me with my shopping and then putting away the items at home.
  • To support me to visit places within my community such as the local garden centre, library to choose audio books, coffee mornings, visits into Neath town centre and at times I like to go walking.  
  • In my home I may need support with finding the right place/episode of the television show I am watching.
  • Before leaving to ensure that I am wearing my lifeline.

Person Type

A person who:

  • Has a sensitive nature.
  • Is chatty.
  • Is reliable.
  • Has an understanding nature.
  • Has good timekeeping.
  • Treats individuals with dignity and respect.

Hours

4 hours per week to be worked either on a Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon. Flexibility is required and the hours may be worked either in a four hour block or two blocks of two hours. This will depend on the requirements for that week.

This post may require a DBS check (the cost of which will be met by NPTCBC). If this post requires you to work with children then it is compulsory for you to have a DBS check prior to commencement.

If requested by the employer, two satisfactory references must be provided. This post is subject to a trial period of 1 month and a probationary period of up to 6 months.

Wages will be paid on a 4 weekly or monthly basis once a valid National Insurance (NI) number has been provided. You must be eligible to work in the UK and your employer will conduct document checks prior to commencement.

You will receive the appropriate annual leave entitlement as well as all other statutory entitlements, details of which will be set out in your contract of employment. You will also be issued with a Personal Assistants Handbook when your employment commences.

You will be expected to undertake any mandatory training identified as relevant to this post. The cost of mandatory training will be met through the direct payment. Failure to attend mandatory training may result in your employment offer being withdrawn.
