Meeting to be held in Neath to #TalkValleys
07 September 2017
The Council is urging residents, groups and businesses to have their say on the Welsh Government’s draft proposals to improve prosperity in the valleys areas of Neath Port Talbot.
An event is being held on Monday 11th September in Neath Civic Centre at 6:00pm at which people can find out more about the plans drawn up by the Welsh Government’s Ministerial Taskforce for the Valleys and share their views in a discussion session.
Council Deputy Leader Cllr Anthony Taylor said: “Neath Port Talbot Council welcomes the Welsh Government’s commitment to supporting and improving valleys areas and is keen to ensure that local people and organisations contribute to shaping these proposals. Monday’s engagement event is an important opportunity to take part in this discussion”.
“The Council has established its own task and finish group of councillors who represent valleys communities to study the proposals but the input of valleys residents, groups and businesses is key to establishing the best way forward for our local area”.
In addition to the draft proposals under the Ministerial Delivery Plan the meeting will also detail the proposed strategic hub for Neath, one of five proposed centres across South Wales which will target investment by focussing public money to provide opportunities for the private sector to invest and create new jobs.
The focus of each hub will reflect the opportunities and demand in a particular area and their aspirations for the future, with the Neath hub earmarked to focus on industrial, residential, digital and energy development.
